broken body love letters

A collaborative writing project

about the project

Write and share the real story of life in a body with a long-term health condition or chronic illness.

Your body, your truth, your story.

What do you think we should know about it?

Valk Fisher lives with type 1 diabetes and has been writing her own version of life with diabetes since she was diagnosed. A doctor encouraged her to do this. Broken Body Love Letters exists to pass this on.

why this project?

Forget what you are told, about what a diagnosis supposedly “means.”

What does it mean to you?

tongue-in-cheek

Our bodies are not actually broken. There are no broken bodies, just faulty scripts.

With a Broken Body Love Letter, you create your own narrative.

can i share?

No body is too invisibly sick.

If you are called to share the story of your body in a (long-term) health condition, welcome.

your story: in a book

Selected letters will become part of a published collection — a book of broken body love letters, gathered from voices everywhere.

If you’d like your words to be considered, let us know when you submit.
